Rules and Regulations for “FILMI SHORTFEST” Season 2 – A 72 Hour Short Film Festival Challenge :
1. Eligibility
– The competition is open to filmmakers of all ages, nationalities, and experience levels.
– Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a team.
– Films must be original works and should not have been publicly screened, broadcast, or
distributed online prior to the festival.
2. Theme and Genre
– The theme for the festival will be announced at the start of the 72-hour period.
– Participants can choose any genre, as long as it aligns with the given theme.
3. Registration
– Participants must register online through the official FILMI SHORTFEST website
www.filmishortfest.com.
– Registration fees, is applicable, must be paid before entry closing date of the 72-hour film
making challenge period.
4. Film Specifications
– Duration: The short film must be not more than 9 minutes, including credits.
– Language: Films can be in any language, but non-Hindi/English films must include English
subtitles.
– Format: Films must be submitted in MP4 or MOV format with a minimum resolution of
1080p.
– Title and Credits: The film must include a title card and closing credits.
5. Production Timeline
– The 72-hour production period will begin at the designated start time announced by FILMI
SHORTFEST.
– All writing, shooting, editing, and post-production must be completed within the 72-hour
window.
– Use of pre-recorded footage is strictly prohibited unless it is part of the provided assets by
the festival organizers (if any).
6. Submission
– Films must be uploaded to the FILMI SHORTFEST submission portal on the official website by
the deadline.
– Late submissions will not be accepted, and no extensions will be granted.
– Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are properly uploaded and
accessible.
7. Judging Criteria
– Films will be judged based on the following criteria:
– Originality and Creativity
– Adherence to the theme
– Storytelling and narrative structure
– Technical quality, including cinematography, sound, and editing
– Acting performances
8. Prizes
– Winners will be awarded in various categories, such as Best Film, Best Director, Best
Actor/Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Script, etc.
– Additional special awards may be given at the discretion of the festival organizers.
9. Intellectual Property
– Participants do not retain ownership of their films once nominated or pronounced winner,
and by submitting, they grant FILMI SHORTFEST the right to screen the film during the
festival and use excerpts for promotional purposes in totality.
– The film must not infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights of
any person or entity.
10. Code of Conduct
– Films must not contain any obscene, offensive, political, religious or defamatory content.
– Any film that promotes hatred, violence, discrimination, or illegal activities will be
disqualified.
– Participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully during the
festival.
11. Disqualification
– Failure to adhere to the rules, guidelines, or deadlines will result in disqualification.
– The decision of the festival organizers and judges is final and binding.
12. Technical Support
– Technical support will be available during the 72-hour period for any issues related to
submission or festival guidelines.
– However, participants are encouraged to test their equipment and submission process ahead
of time.
13. Legal Agreements
– By entering the competition, participants agree to all the rules and regulations set forth by
FILMI SHORTFEST.
– Participants must sign a declaration form at the time of registration, confirming that they
understand and accept the terms of participation.
14. Miscellaneous
– FILMI SHORTFEST reserves the right to amend the rules and regulations at any time. Any
changes will be communicated to participants promptly.
– In case of any dispute, the decision of the FILMI SHORTFEST organizers will be considered
final.
